Lighting

Our range includes two top rail systems which combine lighting with picture hanging and a range of individual, fixed point picture lights.

Boyer Lighting is a low voltage hanging and lighting system. The picture lights can be ordered in widths to suit individual paintings. If colour co-ordinated with the frames, they become almost invisible when viewed from the front, so the viewer gets a perfectly illuminated picture with no distractions. Lights can either be attached to a hanger or fixed to the picture frame.

The top rail and hangers look, at first glance, similar to the classic Boyer components. The difference is that they carry a low voltage, 12v, current. The power supply passes through a 12v transformer at the beginning of a section of rail, runs along concealed copper contact strips, where the current can be picked up merely by hooking on a special hanger which conceals a wire, and which in turn feeds the light. The same hangers are used to support the picture. This gives the curator or collector all the benefits of the Boyer system with the added advantage of being able to light individual pictures.

Either the Paris 2, Paris 3 or the
Marseilles can be specified with this system. It is preferable to conceal the transformers, for example, in a ceiling void, but as close as possible to the end of the rail which is to be fed. Mains connections must be made by a qualified electrician.

The hangers make electrical contact as soon as they are hooked onto the top rail. There is no secondary locking device and therefore the pictures can be moved at will.

The light fittings can be attached directly to a hanger, if only one is used but, particularly in the case of large pictures, it is preferable to use two and then to take a feed from one hanger and attach the fitting to the back of the picture frame.

Both the fittings can be tailor-made to suit the width of the picture if the standard sizes are not appropriate.

If permanent positions can be established for the pictures which are to be illuminated, look at link to Individual Picture Lights as an alternative.

Locator Lighting is a very discreet hanging and lighting system. It is compatible with the Locator 'cobra' range of hangers and consequently with all the hooks for nylon and stainless steel cable. Via a transformer, up to 8m of track can be fed. the individual halogen spotlights can be inserted wherever required as long as there is a minumum of 2 and a maximum of 6 lights. Combined with the flexibility of the Locator range of hangers and hooks, complete freedom ofmpicture display and lighting is achieved. The lights are soft 20w halogen spots.

The light fittings and hangers are inserted into the bottom of the rail. The lights are on two straight projecting arms, and the angle of illunination is adjustable.

The feed from the 150VA transformers also simply click into the bottom of the rail.

Individual Picture lights are intended to be used Where a permanent position can be established for a picture.

The Paris 2, Paris 3 and Marseilles are both low voltage and are exactly the same as those used by the Boyer Hanging and Lighting System. Where they are used as individual picture lights, they must be fed from a transformer. Depending on the type and size of picture frame, this can either be fixed to the frame, to the wall or in a recess in the wall, if the picture is either very slim or to be fixed flush to the wall. In all cases, the mains electricity supply must be installed by a qualified electrician.

The Paris 1, Boedeaux, and Cannes are powered directly from the mains supply. Again, a qualified electrician could advise on the most suitable outlet on the wall but of course, no recess would be needed for a transformer.

These picture lights are designed to do their job, which is to light the picture while, at the same time, being unobtrusive. They can all be tailor-made to suit the width of the picture.
